Over the past seven years, the Harold Pump Foundation has donated over 2.4 Million Dollars to the Northridge Hospital Cancer Programs, $500,000 in 2007 alone! The money has helped the hospital purchase equipment used in diagnostics, treatment, and screening for cancer.
The 2005 purchase of the SecurView DX Workstation, the Selenia Full-Field Digital Mammography machine, and the Mammatome Breast Biopsy System have continued to keep Northridge on the cutting edge of cancer diagnostics. “Saving lives with cancer patients (depends on) early detection … Our medical staff puts a strong emphasis on having the medical technology to detect cancer at an early stage and to treat our cancer patients so they have a high percentage of recovery.” (Brian Hammel, President, Northridge Hospital)
In April 2006 with foundation support, the hospital started the ‘Screening Program for the Underprivileged.’ The program was able to screen over 423 patients that might otherwise go unscreened and over 20 patients were diagnosed in the early stages of cancer – when treatment is still possible. This is quite a success story!
The Harold Pump Foundation has made a two million dollar pledge to Northridge Hospital, and the hospital plans on using these funds to turn the Carole Pump Women’s Center into one of the top women’s centers in Southern California for cancer care and treatment.
